This week, Wednesday May 25th, our Peruvian partners Manuel and Yolanda will be prayer walking a new area outside Iquitos where we are prayerfully considering ministering. Manuel says that the Lord brought him into contact with a pastor whom we worked with last year in the community of Zungarococha. The pastor shared with him that there is a community by the name of 13 de Febrero at KM33 outside the city that the Lord has placed on his heart. Manuel took a ride out this past week and took a look for himself.
Manuel shared that, to the best of his knowledge, no one is currently ministering in the area. There is no existing, functioning church, and according to Manuel only three known believers. I don’t know all that much about the physical needs of the community, but we can be assured that water and hygiene are on the top of that list as well.
I would prayerfully ask that you join with me in prayer on the 25th as we seek to determine if this is where the Lord is leading us. Our vision is to see areas radically transformed by the power of the Gospel, and that begins with us on our faces in heartfelt prayer. Pray that the Lord will raise up a man of peace in this area that we can partner with and that the Holy Spirit would move powerfully through the hearts of all who may hear the Good News.
Below are some scripture verses you may want to pray through along with some photos to give you a visual of the area.
Things to Prayer for:
1. Open Heavens – Isaiah 64:1
Ask God to open heaven‘s storehouse, pouring out His blessings upon the people in the community where you walk.
2. Open Hearts – Acts 2:7, 21
Ask the Holy Spirit to touch, soften, heal, and occupy the hearts of the people.
3. Open Homes – Acts 2:46-47
Ask God for a spiritual awakening to spread redemption through the streets and into every household and establish prayer cells and simple Bible discussion groups.
4. Open Highways – Isaiah 40:3-5
Ask God for effective planting and multiplication of churches among the people.
5. Open Hands – Matthew 10:7-8
Ask God to reveal the needs of the people that we can meet with God‘s help and to let them see Jesus in us!
